Some of you may have noticed that I haven’t posted in a while. That is because a lot of things have been happening. Antares, the company I worked for since January 2008, unfortunately went bankrupt in July, leaving me suddenly jobless. And since I have been dealing with some personal issues that prevent me from working full-time, getting a new job proved to be a lot harder than I thought.

At the same time I had been thinking about starting my own consultancy company for a very, very long time, the most important reason for me being the freedom to dedicate more time to what I love best, which is researching and trying out new technologies. Working for a boss is all good in terms of security but there are unfortunately very few companies out there that’ll allow their employees to spend a good deal of their time on “mucking about”.

So, hence my decision. Reverse Alchemy is now officially registered as an IT consultancy firm. The past month has been spent on getting a whole load of administrative tasks and trying to actually get a contract signed. As it stands now, the latter will have to wait until I come back from a short holiday in the first week of September. But I am in no hurry (yet).

You’ll see a number of changes in my website as I will be redesigning the lot to better match what Reverse Alchemy stands for. Naturally, this blog won’t go anywhere. It might get a facelift but I fully intend to keep contributing. I’ve been doing a lot of “mucking about” in the past month, too, so expect a post or two on various, apparently unrelated topics :)

Erik
